WordCamp India contributor days were held successfully on February 6-7, 2021! Thank you so much for joining us and for contributing to WordPress! \ud83d\ude4f Keep ’em contributions coming!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contributor Day is a chance for attendees to contribute to WordPress, collaborate with new and existing contributors, and learn about the different ways to get involved in the WordPress.org project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contributor Day is for everyone. A variety of skills are needed, and all skills and levels of experience are welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to participate in the WordCamp India contributor day?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The WordCamp India 2021 contributor day has concluded on February 6-7, 2021.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

You will need a WordCamp India 2021 ticket to participate in the contributor day (get one now,<\/a> if you haven’t)! Just make sure that you have a WordPress.org account (register for one<\/a> if you don’t have one already), and join us on the Make WordPress Slack<\/a> (here’s how to join the WordPress Slack<\/a> in case you haven’t).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contributor day event happened on Zoom. We will start at 1:00 PM India Standard Time (07:30 UTC)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are also trying to have the inaugural meeting broadcast live on YouTube, and will share an update on it soon.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the inaugural address is over, you will be encouraged to join the respective zoom breakout room (within the same call)<\/em>, where you can join and start participating in contribution activities. You will receive instructions on how to participate in your chosen team in the inaugural zoom call. If you have already expressed interest for a team, based on our emails earlier this week – great! If not, that’s totally fine too. You can decide now (or later), join the call, and start working with the team you wish to contribute to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When and What time is Contributor Day ?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Contributor Day for WordCamp India 2021, was held on 6th and 7th\u00a0 February 2021 at 1pm to 5pm IST (7:30 am to 11:30 am UTC)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was held online via Zoom. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Am I good enough to contribute?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Short answer, Yes!

You do not need to be a programmer or designer yet to contribute to WordPress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The WordPress project is made up of a number of teams working on areas from code to design, from marketing to community building and more. Look at all the teams here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How will my skills help on the day?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Contributor Day is for everyone. A variety of skills are needed, and all skills are welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A WordPress contributor event is not like a job interview or workplace and does not have the associated pressure. It is a friendly and supportive environment, with a shared vision to develop and maintain the WordPress open-source project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All levels of experience and expertise across a range of areas – including but not only development – are essential for diversifying open source projects. It is the best way to ensure WordPress is useful to as many people as possible and can be used by everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
