I have never conducted a workshop before. Can I still apply?

While it would be good if you had some experience before. If you are someone who has never conducted a workshop in any events before, our team will guide you.

If you are unsure of whether your topic will be selected, we recommend that you go ahead and apply! 🙂

You can also apply with a co-conductor, in which case each individual can submit an application by mentioning the name of your co-conductor.

What will be the types of workshops there at the event?

We’ll have two different standard formats for workshops at WordCamp India 2021.

  • Regular Workshop : 40 mins ( with Q&A )
  • Deep dive session : 50 mins ( with Q&A )

If you feel your workshop would need more time please let us know.

Keep in mind that you can pitch multiple workshops and offer to do a workshop in different formats.

What language should my workshop be in?

Along with English, we welcome (and prefer) sessions in all Indian languages.

What topics can I conduct a workshop about?

As our audience will be diverse, we are looking for a variety of topics, especially for beginners. Here are a few topics that can interest the attendees:

  • Introduction to WordPress.
  • How to use WordPress
  • Basic installation and setup.
  • Basic architecture of Plugins and Themes
  • How to host a WordPress website?

If you have any other topic in your mind you feel can benefit people, you can also apply for the same.

What all should I include in your workshop pitch?

  • Use your real full name in the application. Your bio should also be in third person.
  • The title of your workshop topic should be clear and self-explanatory. It is best to avoid ambiguous workshop titles.
  • Your workshop description should be detailed, but succinct. Focus on explaining what people will learn from the workshop. Make sure that your description should not be too long or vague. Bonus points, if you can share why you are qualified to conduct this workshop (note: you do not need to be an expert).
  • Your topic should be related to WordPress or should be helpful for people that use and work with WordPress.

Note: You need not submit your entire workshop details in your application, just an idea and some details is all we need.

If I’m selected, what will my experience conducting the workshop look like?

We require all selected workshop presenters to send us the recorded videos of their workshops, at least two weeks before the event, so as to prevent any last-minute hiccups or internet issues. We will be replaying the recorded video of the workshop at the event. After your workshop, you can interact with the participants in a live Q&A.
